Jothika Gorur is a professional Bharatanatyam dancer trained in the Kancheepuram Ellappa Pillai form. Since the completion of her Arangetram (dance-debut) in 2017, she has competed and won prizes at several US cultural events, taught students as a dance instructor in the Pittsburgh area, and choreographed for several workshops. Jothika has performed in prestigious solo and group programs in Pennsylvania, Texas, and California. She has previously danced with, captained, and been an advisor for Nrityamala, Pittsburgh’s competitive classical team. Additionally, she served on the executive board and later on judged Dhirana, Pittsburgh’s intercollegiate classical dance competition.
