Akshara Ramakrishnan

Choreographer

I started dancing when I was 5 years old and was classically trained in bharatanatyam up until high school. My first year of college, I saw the bhangra team perform at an event and immediately knew that I wanted to learn this dance form. I joined CMU Bhangra in 2017 when I was a first year in college. I have now been dancing bhangra for almost 5 years, three of those years competitively in the collegiate and national bhangra circuit. Throughout those years, I have placed at several competitions such as Naach di Cleaveland, Boston Bhangra and Taaza. I love the energy and history that comes with Bhangra and love to share the knowledge I have gained over the last few years through teaching and performing.
