Sowmya has been dancing since the age of 3 when she first trained in Kuchipudi for over 7 years. She then took on Bollywood for many more years which led her to discovering her passion for choreography and teaching others of all ages for various events and performances. Entering college at Virginia Tech, she seeked to challenge herself in a new dance form and found her niche in Bhangra. For 5 years she pursued the rigorous dance form and competed with her university’s dance team across the country. She went on to become captain of her team before graduating. After moving to Seattle for work, Sowmya danced bhangra with local dance teams and has been teaching workshops with Rangeela Dance Co for over 5 years.
