Ishita Mili is a Bengali American director and choreographer based in NJ. After extensively training in bharatanatyam, hip hop, street styles, and chhau, (& more), Ishita ventured into creating and directing as a holistic multidisciplinary artist. In 2017, Ishita founded IMGE as a performance company based in dance, film, and music that uses cross-cultural vocabularies to share global stories with artists of diverse backgrounds. IMGE has since been highlighted at Kala Ghoda Arts Festival, New Victory Theater, Seattle International Dance Festival, and Lincoln Center and has been awarded at numerous international film festivals. Ishita most recently co-choreographed and performed in “HAIR” The Musical at Asolo Repertory’s Fall ’21 season and was awarded a Folk Arts Apprenticeship Grant from the NJ State Council on the Arts to study Mayurbhanj chhau. IMGE is once again heading to The Seattle International Dance Festival on June 5th, 2022 for the premiere of their newest 30min piece, “(no)man.”
