Dance has been a part of her life since she learned to walk. Coming from India & raised in Bombay\, she was exposed to Bollywood & various music & dance styles early on. She has performed as a background dancer for the Indian television awards show titled “Star Parivaar Awards – Year 2004’ & recently for the Netflix Productions’ Fame Game – a Bollywood movie starring Madhuri Dixit – Year 2022. Ever since childhood\, she has been performing at multiple stage shows in Mumbai\, and now at fashion shows & events in & around Los Angeles\, San Diego and participated in various dance gigs. \n \nAs a vibrant performer\, she enjoys performing at Bollywood Dance Recitals\, attending dance workshops\, learning expressive movements with trained techniques\, sharing dance space with other dancers & learning their art forms & dance styles. Through her performances\, she believes in sharing positive energy\, expressing stories\, emotions\, and spreading happiness while promoting mental well-being. She has been certified & trained in Kathak- Lucknow Gharaana from India. This invaluable association has allowed her to further refine her dance movements\, learn from accomplished mentors\, and collaborate with fellow artists\, enriching her dance journey and expanding her artistic horizons.

As a member of Rutgers SAPA (South Asian Performing Artists)\, a Bollywood Fusion Co-Ed Dance Team\, he has seen success with his team placing at several competitions like Phillyfest and Best of the Best. As captain\, Kush led the team to a 1st place win at Phillyfest in 2009. From 2010 to 2013\, Kush was a member of Aatma Performing Arts as a performer\, choreographer\, and taught private lessons to the style of Bollywood Hip Hop for kids. During this time\, the team won the Naya Andaaz dance competition and showcased their talents in their own long running production titled Mystic India. He is excited to teach kids again at Rangeela Dance Company – LA!

She later taught Kinderdance to young children across the Bay Area and\, in graduate school\, discovered her love for Bollywood\, Bhangra\, and Bharatanatyam. Passionate about exploring diverse styles\, Katy finds dance to be a place of grounding\, joy\, and self-expression. \n \nAlisha Khatwani Dancing has been a passion of Alisha’s since she was young. Having spent most of her training learning Indian dance forms including Kathak\, Bollywood and Bhangra she enjoys spreading her joy of dancing with kids. Alisha has been teaching the Rangeela Rockstars dance program for over 2 years now and is excited to be teaching a new Bollywood dance number this season. SUMMARY:3 Week Workshop Series: BollyBelly with Shilpa (Seattle)
DESCRIPTION:Come #DanceWithRangeela – Learn some Bollywood Belly Dance Choreography with Shilpa!\n\n\nClass Description\nJoin Shilpa Sreekrishnan (@shilpa.dances) for a 3 week dance BollyBelly workshop series! Follow us on Instagram (@rangeeladancecompany) to see the song reveal! \nWorkshop Schedule: \nClass 1: February 10 – Dance Underground @7:30p-9:30p \nClass 2: February 17 – Whim W’Him Contemporary Dance Center @7:30p-9:30p\n Class 3: February 24th – Dance Underground @7:30p-9:30p\nIn-Studio Class\nFor indoor training\, we have a capacity limit. We ask that all participants arrive 5 MINUTES prior to class. \nAbout this Series\nBeginner Belly dance series across 3 weeks. Each week\, the 2 hour class will focus 1 hour on technique and 1 hour on choreo. We’ll work on beginner basics like isolations\, shape explorations\, basic shimmies & arm/body waves. We’ll work on the same choreo throughout the three weeks to progressively build\, drill\, and feel comfortable in the style. We’ll film a fun group video in the final class! \nI’m nerdy about dance and will share class notes\, playlists\, inspo artists etc. after each class for the best learning experience and retention! \nSeries vs drop-ins – Folks can sign up as a series or even drop-in to classes. Strongly recommend the whole series for a progressive learning experience in a new style so we can build on learnings each week. But I’ll be revisiting the full choreo every week (slightly faster) and technique will be new each week\, so it’s drop-in friendly. \n  \nMeet Shilpa\nAn instructor\, performer\, and choreographer based in Seattle whose dance journey spans continents and styles. Trained early at the Shiamak Davar Institute under Shahid Kapoor\, Shilpa rose to prominence after winning regional rounds of Boogie Woogie\, leading her to train in hip-hop with Rohan & Group. She later pursued professional contemporary and modern training under Sumeet Nagdev in Mumbai\, performing with his Student Dance Company for six years while also teaching underprivileged children through Teach For India. After moving to Seattle\, she choreographed and performed in theater productions with Pratidhwani and Cutting Chai Productions\, and continued her training in Cuban styles at La Clave Cubana\, where she has been a principal performer for five years. During the pandemic\, Shilpa expanded into Tribal Fusion Belly Dance under mentors Tishya Kaul\, Dipika Vijay\, Zoe Jakes\, and Sara Lyn\, and performed in Jillina Carlano’s Belly Dance Evolution production of The Wizard of Oz in 2022. Now exploring Afro and continuing to evolve\, Shilpa embraces the diversity of her training as the foundation of her creativity\, artistry\, and passion for sharing dance with every community she touches.
