Anam Tyrewala has been dancing for as long as she can remember. What started as a childhood fascination with rhythm and movement turned into a lifelong love story with Kathak, which she’s been formally training in for over 15 years. Along the way, that love expanded—into contemporary, hip hop, Bollywood, and semi-classical—shaping her into a truly versatile performer. After earning her Kathak Visharad from Akhil Bhartiya Gandharva Mahavidyalaya Mandal, Anam co-founded Dance & Drill, a platform where she could not only share her choreographies but also build a creative space for dancers to grow together. Today, their YouTube channel has over 52,000 subscribers—a community that celebrates storytelling through dance, across styles and borders. Whether she’s choreographing for weddings, leading workshops, or performing on stage, Anam brings an infectious energy and emotional depth to her work. She’s performed across India and the U.S., won awards like the Aga Khan Youth Excellence Award (three times!), and placed 2nd nationally at the Jubilee Arts Festival 2018 for her solo dance. For Anam, dance isn’t just performance—it’s presence. It’s how she connects, communicates, and creates meaning. And no matter the stage, she’s always dancing from the heart.
