Asmita Wagh

Choreographer

Asmita is a classically trained Kathak Dancer, with over 15 years of experience in classical, semi-classical,
Bollywood & freestyle dance forms. Dance has been a part of her life since she learned to walk. Coming from India & raised in Bombay, she was exposed to Bollywood & various music & dance styles early on. She has been performing since an early age at various shows & events in and around Mumbai & recently performed as a background dancer for the Netflix Productions’ Fame Game – a Bollywood movie starring Madhuri Dixit – Year 2022. She moved to the United States to pursue her graduation from Columbia University but was persistent to have Dance as an integral part of her daily life. She has been performing & dancing at events during her time at Columbia University in New York, and now at fashion shows & dance gigs in & around Los Angeles & San Diego.
As a vibrant performer, she enjoys performing at Bollywood Dance Recitals, attending dance workshops, learning expressive movements with trained techniques, sharing dance space with other dancers & learning their art forms & dance styles. Through her performances, she believes in sharing positive energy, expressing stories, emotions, and spreading happiness while promoting mental well-being. She has been pursuing her training in Kathak-Lucknow Gharaana from India. This invaluable association has allowed her to further refine her dance movements, learn from accomplished mentors, and collaborate with fellow artists, enriching her dance journey and expanding her artistic horizons. Through her performances, choreography, and teaching endeavors, she strives to ensure that Dance is accessible, inclusive, and meaningful. She believes Dance is meant to foster connections among diverse cultures, entertaining audiences while spreading joy & happiness.
