Meet Our Team
Shilpa Sreekrishnan
Choreographer
I’ve been dancing for as long as I can remember! My early training started at Shiamak Davar Institute under actor Shahid Kapoor in a kids intensive and a few years later, I won the regional rounds of dance TV reality show – Boogie Woogie. That opened an opportunity to train in hip-hop with Rohan & Group (Boogie Woogie veterans) and I started to enjoy different styles!
After being a part of competitive dance teams in school and college, I started my professional training under Sumeet Nagdev in contemporary and modern dance in Mumbai. I got selected to be a part of his Student Dance Company for six years, where I semi-professionally performed in dance productions around India and taught/mentored new students joining the program. On the side, I also taught a dance program for underprivileged children as part of the non-profit Teach For India for three years.
After moving to Seattle, I was lucky to find multiple South Asian performance opportunities with the non-profits Pratidhwani & Cutting Chai Productions where I choreographed and performed in multiple theater productions. I also wanted to continue training and started Cuban Salsa along with other Cuban styles at La Clave Cubana. I’ve been a principal dancer on their professional performance team for 5 years with performances across the west coast.
Through the pandemic, I also started Tribal Fusion Belly Dance training under Tishya Kaul, Dipika Vijay, Zoe Jakes and Sara Lyn, and performed in Jillina Carlano’s (belly dance veteran) Belly Dance Evolution musical of The Wizard of Oz July 2022 in Seattle. I picked up Afro as a new style last year and am looking forward to where it takes me. I value the diversity in my training as it enriches my creativity with all dance forms.
